July Updates

July Updates: New Ways to Map Your Org + A Faster, Smarter OneDirectory 🚀

Map Your Company Structure with Organizational Units 🏢

Map Your Company Structure with Organizational Units

You can now create and manage Organizational Units in OneDirectory.

This gives you the flexibility to group employees by division, business unit, branch, faculty, or any structure that fits your organization, beyond just office and department.

This feature has been in limited release and is now available on our Pro plan.

What you can do with org units:

  • Add custom units like “Division” or “Faculty”
  • Assign them to employee profiles
  • Search and filter by org unit across the directory
  • View each unit’s dedicated homepage with its own URL and description

To get started:
Go to Settings → Fields → Organizational Structure and click + Add organizational unit to set it up.

Using Microsoft 365 directory extensions? You can sync existing metadata to OneDirectory. Reach out to our team for help.

New Org Chart Display Options 🎛️

OneDirectory's Org Chart Display Options

A new Display Options button in the org chart toolbar lets you customize what you see.

Toggle elements like photos, offices, departments, assistants, and dotted line managers. Plus, you can now swap name and job title placement to prioritize what matters most.

More display options coming soon! 🚀

Core Platform Upgrade Complete 🚀

OneDirectory's core platform upgrade

We’ve just completed one of the biggest behind-the-scenes upgrades to OneDirectory since launch.

The entire platform has been rebuilt on a faster, more modern foundation, improving performance, stability, and security across all regions.

While you won’t see visual changes, this upgrade makes it easier for us to ship new features faster and keep your data even more secure.

Thanks for being part of the journey. We’ve got some exciting things coming soon!

Recent Fixes & Improvements 🛠️

We've been busy enhancing your OneDirectory experience. Here are some of the most important updates from the past month:

Alongside the launch of our new Dotted Line Manager feature, we released several improvements to make the org chart more polished, readable, and user-friendly. Here are the highlights:

🔹 Improved Visibility with System Blue: We’ve changed the default org chart highlight color to OneDirectory’s system blue for better contrast and readability across all themes.

🧭 Clearer Node Highlighting: Highlighted org chart blocks now include the expander button for better navigation, and we’ve cleaned up the hover styling too.

🧾 More Room for Long Titles: Org chart blocks are now slightly larger, helping prevent line wrapping for long names and job titles.

🧲 Easier Clicking: We’ve increased the size of the reporting line expander button on profiles to improve usability, especially for teams with complex hierarchies.

🧠 Smarter Labeling: We renamed “Dotted Line Manager To” to “Dotted Line Reports” in the reporting pane, it’s simpler and more intuitive.

🐞 Horizontal Layout Fix: Fixed the placement of assistants in the horizontal org chart layout to display accurately.

Thanks for all your feedback, every small improvement adds up! 💚
